If
you read my post “Shattered Dreams,” you’ll remember that I encouraged praying
boldly - “Lord, take me where you want me to go,
let me meet who you want me to meet, tell me what you want me to say…and keep
me out of your way.” I’d love to
share a story of a “blind date”, set up by God.

I
arrived to work today and was immediately greeted by a phone call from the
daughter of my 9am patient expressing her sincerest apologies. She had overslept, forgotten about her
father’s appointment and wouldn’t be able to make it due to their 1-hour
commute. 9am – cancel. Then I received another phone call from my
10am patient, she was sick. 10am - cancel. Cancelations by both these patients were unheard of due to their perfect
attendance record.
My
9:30 patient arrived on time when I received a call from the front office. “Lauren, a new patient just arrived, her
appointment is next Monday, but she lost track of the dates. She is scheduled to work with your colleague,
but is there any chance you could evaluate her at 10?” I
hesitated. My 9:30 patient was scheduled
for an hour treatment session, but I figured one of my colleagues would be able
to help out, so I replied “sure.” As I escorted the patient from the lobby to
the treatment room she spoke up, “I know you, you look so familiar. Did I ask you about your arm workout a couple
months ago when you were shopping in Trader Joe’s?” I think my exact words were “SHUT THE FRONT
DOOR! Yes, you did!” Oddest thing…She had randomly crossed my mind
while I was shopping in Trader Joe’s a few weeks back. I was taking her medical history and she
paused and said “I whispered a prayer that you would say yes to treating me. Praise the Lord for bringing us
together. I’m going to say a prayer of
thanks when I get in my car to leave.”
Y’all how sweet was that “blind date”? It sure is beautiful knowing that that
nothing in my life is an accident. The
Lord works in the details and is incredibly creative! HE DOES ALL THINGS WELL!
My dearest (and wise) friend, Karen (standing on the left in the photo), encouraged
me to make my morning prayer "Lord, bring people into my life today to
encourage me and bring people into my life that I can encourage. [Shine brightly upon me and through me.]” Amen.
